A Spring Bedroom Update: Curtains & Bedding with Yorkshire Linen

A Spring Bedroom Update: Curtains & Bedding with Yorkshire Linen

At the end of last summer, we redecorated our bedroom  – it was previously a dark purple colour, and although I liked it at the time we had done it in 2011, I was ready for something a little more grown up.

With three children, our bedroom is the only area of the house that is truly ours, and I wanted it to be cosy and inviting, but also look fresh and clean. We went for a combination of grey colours, and fresh white linens, and I absolutely love it.

Now that Spring is upon us, as much as I love the grey tones, I’ve been thinking about adding in a few bits of pastel colour to brighten the room up for Spring. If your rooms have a neutral palette, it is easy to change them with the seasons by adding new accessories. I love changing the curtains, adding a new cushion, or a throw, and then changing up the decorative touches in the room.

With this in mind, I’ve been doing some online window shopping, and picked some pieces which I think will be perfect to update our bedroom for Spring.

Pink with grey is a huge trend right now – and I also thought I’d add in some mauve touches. I was inspired by this artificial flower arrangement from Next, and the gorgeous spring colours in it.

I love these mauve curtains from Yorkshire Linen*, and I think they would tie in lovely with the flowers. They also have blackout linings which is great for the lighter mornings.

Our main bed sheets are currently white, and I love how fresh and clean they look, but I would like to add some pink touches to the bed. Our back cushions and fitted sheet are grey, and I would love to replace them with these Pink Oxford Pillowcases and Fitted Sheet from Yorkshire Linen.

They have an amazing range of bedding, curtains and accessories, and the prices are very reasonable and competitive. I am a huge fan of shopping online  – after all who wants to drag three children around the shops? Whilst I was browsing their website, looking for inspiration, I also had a look at their range of duvets and pillows – I would love to replace our old ones with these Duck Feather Pillows and Double Duvet.

To finish off our bed, I would love this blush pink throw from Laura Ashley, and these gorgeous faux silk cushions from Marks and Spencer.

I also spotted this pink alarm clock in Laura Ashley which would look lovely on my bedside table.

With this in mind I set to thinking how I would update the children’s bedrooms for spring too. An easy way to do this is with a new pair of curtains – they can instantly change the look of the room. I am not a fan of character bedding and curtains personally, so tend to go for plainer colours, or simple prints.

Yorkshire Linen have an amazing range of plain coloured curtains and patterned curtains. The boys bedroom has a blue and grey stars theme, and I love these Navy Star Print Curtains –  although they are darker than what I would normally go for, with the lighter mornings and evenings the blackout linings will mean I should be able to get the boys to sleep and wake at their normal times.

Yorkshire Linen has a huge range of children’s curtains – and a lot of them have blackout linings – so perfect for children rooms. Curtains are the perfect for adding the finishing touches to a child’s room, and ensuring a peaceful sleeping environment for them.

I hope this post has given you some Spring bedroom inspiration – I’m excited to start on making our rooms Spring ready.
