The Me & Mine Project – April 2017

The Me & Mine Project – April 2017

It’s the end of April and it’s been a funny old month. We’ve had sunshine and shorts and then random frosts and back to winter coats.

This month Izzie turned 7, we had the most glorious weather, just like the the day she was born. Straight after her birthday, all hell broke loose in our house with the start of the kitchen renovation (if you remember the infamous flooding of the kitchen by our tabby cat).

The rest of April has consisted of dust, dust, and more dust and it also coincided with the Easter holidays. I feel awful admitting we had two weeks mostly spent in the house because we were waiting in for various deliveries. Ell also started working longer hours and I struggled as all the kids seemed to do was fight with each other and tell tales. We did have lots of time in the garden and all the kids have adored the trampoline and playing in their playhouse – and have been amazing at not touching the growing pile of cardboard and polystyrene that mounted up (it finally went to the tip yesterday).

It wasn’t the easiest month as I think the kids picked up on my stress over the house and seemed to react by playing up a lot. It was also hard having most of the kitchen packed up and stored at the in laws and we have currently been without a sink and tap, and a hob in the kitchen for three weeks – not the easiest with three young children.

I’ve done my fair share of complaining about it, but oh my god will it be worth it when it’s done – I reckon we have about another week before the worktop is in (Ell has done the majority of it himself, but we have a joiner coming to fit the worktops) and then we can get on with tiling, painting and finishing touches. It will give us so much more space as a family, even though the room size hasn’t changed. Ell and myself designed the kitchen to fit the room and I’m so pleased with it.

We did manage to get some gorgeous photos of the five of us on an early morning walk. How wonderful are the colours in Spring. The rapeseed flowers and the bluebells are stunning. I’m so happy with this months photos – the only problem being is I have to choose ONE to have pride of place in the new kitchen!

I’m excited for May – Mason – my baby – will be turning 2 – how has that come around so fast, and we have another half term – hopefully being able to get out of the house more.

Ooh I’d really struggle to choose to – I think I’d pick the first bluebell picture, although they’re all gorgeous! I hope the kitchen is completed soon, I can’t even imagine how stressful that has been xx
