{The Ordinary Moments} #2 Ice Cream at the Seaside in January

On the weekends I struggle. It’s no secret now that the kids are growing up, I find Saturdays when Ell plays football really hard with three kids on my own – if you follow me on Instagram , you’ll regularly see my Saturday moans. This time of year, it is also harder to get out the house with them, being cold, dark and often rainy. After a miserable Saturday last week, where the kids did nothing but fight and make a mess, by the time Ell got home from football I had had enough.

I made the spur of the moment decision, that on Sunday we were going to go somewhere, to walk the dog. I wanted to go to the seaside as my head was fuzzy and I felt in dire need of fresh air. Weston Super Mare is just under an hour from us, and this time of year you are able to take dogs on the beach. The weather in Wiltshire was really foggy and damp, but the closer we got to the coast, the brighter it became. Visiting Weston for a winter dog walk was also on my UK Travel Bucket List for 2017.

We spent a few hours there, eating fish and chips for lunch, having a lovely walk along the beach, wrote our names in the sand and had a paddle in the sea as the tide was in (low tide at Weston can be dangerous as it is very muddy) and then we got ice cream (Mason made it his mission to eat everyone elses) – it was 10oC and un seasonably warm, and it was lovely.
I felt like I could start the week feeling so much more positive, and my head felt really clear, and it was lovely to have some family time, where no one was fighting.
I’ve included a few of the photos I took, which sum up our day perfectly. I hope we can have many more Sundays the same this year.

I get like that, kids drive me nuts when they're stuck in and their dad's working at the weekend and then I make sure we all get out and it's like a breath of fresh air. Looks like you had a great time. Love your pic of your little one eating ice cream – so cute!

This looks like such a perfect way to spend a day and so makes me want to go to the beach now but we live in Staffordshire which is probably the furthest away from the cost you can get!

I can't wait for the summer – many more beach days hopefully! It really was lovely – its worth a drive at this time of year as its so quiet and peaceful, and the kids can just run. xx

Ooh, I get so frustrated on those Saturdays. So glad you had a lovely time, we used to go to Weston when I was little. And you got some fabulous photos! xx

This is such a lovely post. I'm so glad that your beachy day cleared your head and helped you find balance again. I love Weston – I have fond memories of visiting there as a child and collecting the smallest shells I have ever seen. Beautiful photos x

I love going to the beach when it is winter sometimes even more than I do during summer! I am glad it cleared your head and you had a nice day. x
