{The Ordinary Moments} #8 Mind The Gap Please

I wanted to start off this weeks Ordinary Moments saying, we nearly managed to make it through a week without any illness (yay!) until we got to Friday and Mason woke up looking like he had been in a fight – his eye was swollen shut, and he was very very irritable (hence him not complying for photos this week!!). A trip to the doctors diagnosed conjunctivitis, although we had to keep  close eye (no pun intended) on it, as apparently there is a type of eye infection that can be very dangerous if left without a different type of…

{The Ordinary Moments} #7 Fresh Sea Air

This week didn’t start off good. The sickness bug that I wrote about in last weeks Ordinary Moments – it got both me and Ell. Parenting three kids when you both are fighting to share the toilet, and feeling absolutely dreadful is probably one of the hardest things we’ve ever done. The highlight was Ell attempting to make the kids a picnic lunch and asking for me to help. I couldn’t go within a few feet of the food without running back to the loo to be sick.   I felt so awful that the much longed for half term…

{The Ordinary Moments} #6 Quarantine & Old Films

Yesterday I was stressing a little. I love taking parts in the ordinary moments each week, and I love capturing photos for it. Only this week I’ve only taken a handful of photos, and none are the kind I like to take – natural light and outdoors. Can you believe we’ve had ANOTHER week of illness. With three kids, I know they will invariably be poorly at different points, as they are all picking up germs from different places, but it has been constant in our house since the beginning of December. It has got to the point I honestly…

{The Ordinary Moments} #5 It Felt Like Spring

I think all my wishing, and hoping (and whining) about my need for Spring to arrive was heard this weekend. We woke up on Saturday to beautiful blue skies. I don’t care what anyone says, sunlight changes your mood for the better. There was definitely the feel of Spring in the air. I usually spend Saturdays moping – I see friends, and others on social media, enjoying their weekends as a family, and I know that as Ell plays football, our Saturdays don’t look like that – there is no brunch, and a lack of family time. It always puts…

{The Ordinary Moments} #4 An Extraordinary Swimming Session

This week brought a much brighter week for me, but more coughs and colds for the kids. They had a couple days off of school and preschool but by Friday they were both feeling much better. We were invited to go swimming on Saturday morning by Ell’s parents who were house sitting. I was so excited at the prospect of having the pool to ourselves, because I knew I would be able to take photos and film, which you aren’t allowed to do in a public pool. Izzie learnt to swim last year but hasn’t been for a while, and…

{The Ordinary Moments} #3 A Rough Week for Mummy

I struggled writing a title for this post. I didn’t want to write something negative, but in all honestly this week has been a real struggle. Some weeks and sometimes months are just like that. For me, January is always a hard month. Sophie’s anniversary is the 1st February, and the lead up to it, coupled with the disappearance of the pretty Christmas lights and cheer, and the hard crash back to reality and the grey days, usually means I find it hard. This week started ok, and then took a turn for the worse when on Tuesday, Mason started…
