Mummy Style: UK Holiday Capsule Wardrobe

*This post is not sponsored in any way, I’ve just picked items that I love and/or already own*

I actually made myself laugh when I wrote the title of this post – capsule wardrobe – pah! As my long suffering husband who has to squeeze everything into the car when we go away will tell you, I do not pack lightly!

Obviously I would not only take these items with me – chances are we could have a week of blazing sunshine, and the coats and jumpers would not be needed. As we live in Britain, the likelihood is there is more chance of rain though, hence why I have included them. Plus it is always a little chillier by the sea.

As you can see, I like to stick to my rather boring colour palette even in the summer – navy, white and tan, with some denim and the odd pop of colour thrown in for good measure. This does seem to be a bit of a stereotypical ‘mum’ wardrobe, especially withe stripes, but I just can’t help myself.

We are so lucky to be off on two Cornish holidays this summer – as you read this, we will be in Charlestown, near St Austell, and then later in the summer holidays, we will be off to just outside Newquay.

My wardrobe is based around comfort, and warmth (I’m always chilly) and something that allows me to run around after the kids.

So here we go: my top picks for a UK holiday – if I actually only pack this amount of things, I will have a very happy husband.

PS I haven’t included my jeans or cropped jeans as I’ve featured them in recent posts and videos – be assured I wouldn’t wear the same pair of denim shorts all week!!

Tassel Trim Striped Bikini Bottoms – Tesco F&F £6

Tassel Trim Striped Bikini top – Tesco F&F £10

I love the pops of colour on this and of course it is striped – my favourite!

White Cotton Tie Cami – Next £7 – I also love this in the blue, black and floral print – I love that you can adjust the tie straps too – and its loose fitting after all those Cornish Pasties

Dark Blue Denim Boy Shorts – Next – £20 – These are slightly looser and a modest length – perfect for a mummy of three crazies running round the beach.

Coast Antique Gold Waterproof Jacket – Joules £84.95

I’ve actually had this coat for a couple of years, but I love the bright colour, it is lightweight and definitely waterproof.

Angie Chambray Dress – Fat Face £49.50

A classic denim dress is casual enough for wearing the day, but you could dress it up with some wedges for the eying – now to find the perfect tan ones!

Navy Converse All Stars – Office – £44.99

The Mummy Shoe – these are so comfortable for all those wanders round little Cornish towns – and they don’t rub my feet!

Seaham French Navy Chenille Jumper – Joules – £39.95

This is perfect for when it gets chilly in the evening – I have a couple of these and they are so soft and warm.

Shirred Bardot Top – Miss Selfridge – £32

I bought this a few weeks ago to wear ron a hen do and had so many compliments on it – it is amazing because the shoulders don’t slip up, and its a really crisp cotton, so looks pretty and summery.

Printed Insulated Cool Bag – Joules £29.95

I know this isn’t really part of a capsule wardrobe but I had to include it, as I bought it the other week with some  vouchers. It’s really insulated and it such a pretty colour – plus its really spacious and would hold loads of food – perfect for my kids who do not stop eating!

Salt Water Original Tan Sandals – Office – £59.50

*Sob* I don’t own these but one day! You can wear them in water – perfect for me who always worries i’ll be bitten by a crab (don’t ask!) and they are super stylish – and tan is such a classic colour!

Crew Neck Cotton Blend Cardigan – Laura Ashley – currently £27

I’ve had this a while and it is really soft and I love the different colour flecks in it. A classic navy cardigan goes with everything.

Harbour Jersey Top – Joules – £29.95

I couldn’t leave out a striped top – again I bought this a few week ago with some vouchers and I love the twist on the classic Breton – its such pretty print and would look lovely for warmer or colder weather – I can see this one saying in my wardrobe for a long time!

So thats it – my ‘capsule’ wardrobe – I would love to know what you have in yours?
