“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”
Izzie was born on the 8th April 2010, 5 days overdue weighing a tiny 5lb 14oz. She was such a tiny little dot, and has maintained that as she’s grown. She perfectly in proportion, but always tinier than her classmates, despite regular growth spurts. Lately she has developed a bit of complex about it but as I keep telling her good things come in small packages. I am only 5ft 2, and my mum is just over 5ft. She has our short genes!
Last Wednesday her Brownie pack went paddleboarding at Cotswold Water Park (somewhere we are very lucky to live very close to). Apparently the minimum age requirement is 8 years, but they made allowances for the Brownies, so Izzie got to try it (she turned 7 in April). Its something myself, or her Dad have not tried before, and now something I really want to have a go at.
Bless her, she really struggled as the oar was almost twice her height – and I’ve since been told it takes a lot of core strength, and although she didn’t get out too far, and went around in circles a lot, she had a great time. We did have a few tears – she is very stubborn and if she can’t do something perfect first try, she does beat herself up about it, but we were so proud, and I was really pleased to be able to capture these photos. At the end all the Brownies got to jump into the lake from the jetty and Izzie loves doing anything like this!
I love linking up with Donna at What The Redhead Said for Living Arrows – its so special to record these wonderful moments of my kids childhood. Check out who else has linked up this week by clicking here…
