We are so very lucky to live 10 minutes away from Westonbirt, The National Arboretum. Having a springer spaniel that loves to walk, and three kids that love to wander, ‘the trees’ (as it is known in our house) is the perfect place for them to do just that.
We are members of The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum, which we pay a yearly fee for, and with our joint membership, the kids get to enter for free. We get very good value for money from our pass, which we use several times a month. There is a cafe, shop and a play area that the kids love too.
Autumn is just beautiful at Westonbirt, but it does get rather busy. We visited early on a Sunday morning in early October, with the intention of walking the dog and getting some photos of the kids. This year, it was much greener than it was at the same time last year, and most of the trees had only just started to turn (the following week we had a slight frost, and suddenly everywhere looked like Autumn).
Pretty much around every corner, there is a picturesque setting, perfect for taking photos. The kids love to run, climb the trees and find leaves and pine cones, and the paths are perfect for the pushchair so Mason can get in on the action, and have a toddle around. This is a very photo heavy post, but what better way to show off the beautiful setting that is Westonbirt – if you are are in the Cotswolds, it is a lovely place for a ‘fresh air’ day out. We ended up having a lovely wander, collecting lots of leaves (which we later used to make leaf bunting) and having some lovely family time.
I have been meaning to visit Westonbirt for so long. Everytime I see photos or posts about it I am reminded! Your pictures are lovely, looks like a brilliant family day out. #chasingnature

There's nothing quite like a walk through an arboretum, I used to enjoy visiting Lynford Arboretum in Norfolk, years ago. #ChasingNature

What beautiful photos! I love the black and white ones. As you say, it does look very green, doesn't it? I went for a walk this week through some woods and it wasn't as green as this.
