We are fans of a good ‘board’ game in this house – extra points if its a game that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
Having children that range from age 2 and a half to 7 and a half, this can be a pretty big ask. We were very excited to receive Bunny Jump to try out. It is actually suitable from age 5 upwards but Mason was actually quite happy playing it with a bit of help from his older siblings. 
The official tag line of the game is ‘Safely sitting on top of his burrow, the Bunny watches his carrot field. Pull out the carrots, but be careful not to frighten him! Stay focused and be ready to catch him when he jumps in the air! Be the player who’s collected the most carrots when the game ends.’
It reminds me of other games we have in our collection and ones that I loved growing up – ones that you had to be careful so you don’t make the game react. For someone who is always jumpy like me, they can be pretty amusing.
The game is easy to set up – put the carrots in their holes in the burrow, and push the bunny firmly down on top of it. Each player gets their own basket to collect their carrots in.
There is a spinner which tells you how many carrots to take, whether to miss a turn, or whether you lose a carrot. Each player takes it in turns and follows the instructions on the spinner. One of the carrots will trigger the bunny to JUMP and when this happens you need to be quick on your feet to catch him. The player who catches him before he hits the ground gets to take two carrots from the other players baskets. The player with the most carrots wins the game.
Izzie and Ollie particularly had great fun playing Bunny Jump – they were actually quite reluctant to put it away when bedtime came round, and they have got it out several times to play with since.
It caused a great deal of laughter at everyone scrambling to catch the bunny – some of us are obviously more competitive than others in the Brushneen house! On a side note, I also loved that it all went back in the box easily and stored well, without me having to find a place for all the pieces – this is always a win with me.
This would be a great game for a Christmas present – sometime to play with the family after lunch on Christmas day – and fun for adults and children alike.
