I think as a Mum, when you have a hard day, things aren’t going to plan – or your kids have tracked mud on your new rug (yes it happened), my go to is tea and cake. Most likely why I gained weight after Izzie was born. And Ollie – and Mason actually.
Once you are past the newborn days, is is probably advisory to rein in on the cake, but in all seriousness, you really can’t beat a good slice of cake as a pick me up or a treat. I was so excited when I received a message from Bakerdays asking if we would like to review one of their Letterbox Cakes.
Bakerdays is a Personalised Celebration Cake Specialist, providing quality personalised cakes for all occasions. The delicious range of recipes and sizes are available for delivery 7 days a week, and if you order before 2pm, bakerdays can deliver the very next day!
When I looked on their website, their range of designs, sizes and flavours was very impressive. There were so many options for cakes – from birthday, to baby shower, to thank you cakes. They also do a wide range of sizes from 5 inches to 12 inches in diameter.
We reviewed a Valentines Letter Box Cake – the cake is 5 inches in diameter and fits through your letterbox. The hardest part was choosing a flavour – we had a choice of Vanilla Sponge, Chocolate, Fruit or Red Velvet – they also have gluten free and dairy free options available. We chose the Red Velvet flavour. The cake costs £14.99 which includes delivery – unless you need it super quickly, in which case you can choose to pay extra.
There was a wide range of designs to choose from – they can be personalised – I chose to put a photo on ours. Once I had chosen the deign and uploaded my photo, put in details, it was really simple to order.
There are various postage options, and my cake arrived the following day.
It came well packaged, and inside the cake was in a lovely tin to keep it safe.
Removing the cake from the tin was easy. The letterbox cake will easily give you 4 portions, but we managed to get six out of it. The cake was lovely and moist – and despite being single layer, there was a generous helping of buttercream, and it was very tasty. Both Ell and kids the enjoyed it too.
