{The Ordinary Moments} #3 A Rough Week for Mummy

I struggled writing a title for this post. I didn’t want to write something negative, but in all honestly this week has been a real struggle. Some weeks and sometimes months are just like that. For me, January is always a hard month. Sophie’s anniversary is the 1st February, and the lead up to it, coupled with the disappearance of the pretty Christmas lights and cheer, and the hard crash back to reality and the grey days, usually means I find it hard. This week started ok, and then took a turn for the worse when on Tuesday, Mason started…

{Living Arrows 2017} #1

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” Kahlil Gibran My intention when I started blogging last summer, was to record all the memories of the kids growing up – the big moments, but the small ones too. I hadn’t seen the Living Arrows Linky until recently and I’m so excited to be joining in – albeit a bit late for the start of the year. I take a lot of photos on my ‘big’ camera, and I enjoy it, but the smaller moments are normally captured on my iPhone, and that is where all my images this week came from. Three…

The Siblings Project – January 2017

Ummm, how are we halfway through January? I swear yesterday it was Christmas Eve?! January has been pretty quiet so far for these monkeys, settling back into their school and pre school routines, and for Mason and me, getting used to having a quieter house again. Both Izzie and Ollie have settled back into school well – especially Izzie, considering it must be weird not having her best friend around, now she has moved away. Ollie has also gone back to preschool without any fuss, which is amazing, since last year we were having to convince him…

{The Ordinary Moments} #2 Ice Cream at the Seaside in January

On the weekends I struggle. It’s no secret now that the kids are growing up, I find Saturdays when Ell plays football really hard with three kids on my own – if you follow me on Instagram , you’ll regularly see my Saturday moans. This time of year, it is also harder to get out the house with them, being cold, dark and often rainy. After a miserable Saturday last week, where the kids did nothing but fight and make a mess, by the time Ell got home from football I had had enough. I made the spur of the…

What I’ve Learnt as a Mum of Three

Never get too excited for plans until they happen as a child will get ill/bump/tantrum – the amount of meals out/days out/nights out we’ve had to cancel because something has happened to one of them – but I wouldn’t be anywhere else obviously. Embrace the mess – your house will never be tidy again – I can get upstairs tidy, or downstairs but never both at the same time. And there is always a little person going behind you and pulling out what you’ve just put away. Or one encouraging another one to do it…. Organisation is key – Its the same for having kids generally, but with threee you…

{The Ordinary Moments} #1 New Year Dog Walk (kind of) and Goodbyes

Christmas 2016 was a strange one. We started the month with Mason being in hospital with Bronchiolitis, Ollie got an ear infection, and then came the sickness bugs of Christmas (less said about that the better). Our cars MOT was due to expire on the 29th December, and so we had it booked in to the garage. It needed new tyres and one of the tracking roads was broken. or car was stuck in the garage for three days waiting for a part. We were quite confined to the house, and the first time we managed to get out and…
