The Me & Mine Project – February 2017

The Me & Mine Project – February 2017

We are finally at the end of February and hopefully finally coming to end of winter. (Although on a side note I thought I was a day late after Izzie told me this morning it was the 1st of March – this led to me posting it on Instagram and Twitter and causing a few laughs when people had to tell me it was still February – oops – never take the word of a six year old!)

February hasn’t been the best month in our house. It never is – it is always hard on the 1st of the month, as it is the anniversary of Sophie being born sleeping.  This year marked 5 years. I think February is always destined to be a month of negativity in our house.

This was followed by a severe sickness bug (and the other end – i’ll spare you all the details) which took down Izzie then Mason, Me and finally Ell. Ollie was the only one who escaped it.

When we recovered from that and were all out of our quarantine period, we decided to take a trip to the beach at Brean, Somerset. That’s where this months Me & Mine photos were taken. They aren’t the best as it was blowy and the kids were obviously more interested in digging than having photos taken, but I love them none the less.

On our day out we noticed the back wheel of the car was making a funny noise. Ell asked my dad to check it and long story short, we ended up needing new brake pads discs and a calliper (whatever that is). After nearly two weeks of illness we were then housebound due to a lack of car as it took three days to fix (and we have yet to have the bill). This also meant trying to work around the school runs as we have no way of walking there – it is 10 minutes along a main road by car.

This was followed by the infamous nail varnish arnish incident. Think Laura Ashley sheets and a creative toddler creating a masterpiece with Maybelline Nail varnish (who knew he could reach that high). It’s amazing what they get up to when you turn your back for a second.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, yesterday the cat flooded the kitchen. Yes you read it right. He knocked the washing basket, which turned the tap on full pressure, which soaked through three loads of (clean) washing and then filled up, overflowing and flooding the kitchen whilst I took the kids to the dentist. Now we’ve dried it out it’s looking like an insurance claim for a new kitchen. All in all the end to a rubbish month.

Wow that was a negative post, but it sums up our month perfectly. I’m sure lovely things did happen but we had our fair share of bad luck (enough for the year I think) in February.

I’m so looking forward to March. It will be full of positivity and sunnier days (fingers crossed) and empty of illness and broken things.

I hope everyone else had a better month than we did – you can check out who else has linked with Lucy at Dear Beautiful here….

Sheeesshh if it doesn’t rain it pours!! Sorry for such a crap month… like you say it probs always will be as it has the anxiety of reliving all of that. Did you do anything for Sophies birthday? What are your traditions? Do you find the build up always to me more emotional than the day or not? I do and for us its September and its just not the same anymore. I hate buying uniform and sending the kids off to school because the following week I just need them close again as we remember their sister passing and too being born asleep 🙁 – Seriously hope that March is better xx #meanmineproject

Couldn’t believe when I saw your photo about the flood!! I hope the insurance covers it all ok. I have a difficult month in June for similar reasons and it just puts a dampner on the month doesn’t it? Big hugs and I hope March will be a better one for you xx
