The Me & Mine Project – September 2017

The Me & Mine Project – September 2017

I always say that I can’t believe it is the last day of the month. This month I actually can. September has been packed full of new challenges and life experiences for us as a family. It’s either been snails pace this month or full throttle.

The month kicked off with my 28th (ahem 31st) birthday, which was a quiet one, through my own choice. The same day Ollie started school. My little Rainbow baby was big enough to start school?!

Where we live, school starters do two weeks of half days and then start full time. Those two weeks were challenging. I didn’t find it with Izzie, probably because she didn’t know any different, but for Ollie who was used to taking Izzie to school each day, he just wanted to be in school full time from the get go.

I didn’t doubt it in any way but he has totally taken to school like a duck to water. He’s been his totally wonderful cheeky little self, happy to go in in the morning and actually coped pretty well with the tiredness of the longer days. We’ve been so proud at how he has handled it.

Despite him and Izzie not always seeing eye to eye, it melted my heart when she told me he always comes to find her in the lunch hall to give her a cuddle. That right there is why I had children.

Izzie has coped well with being the more grown up one at school. She’s even taken more homework and harder spellings in her stride. She’s also turned into a mini teenager over night – and evidently one from the eighties – every day coming home having changed her neat hairstyle into a side ponytail. She’s also joined the school choir and I think fancies herself as a Taylor Swift

Mason has had a funny old month – he’s gone from having two siblings around constantly to being on his own with me a lot of the time. Part of me thinks he loves it, another part is not so sure. We have definitely hit terrible twos full force – with full on meltdowns, mainly centred around being strapped into his car seat, and mean mummy not letting him eat nothing but bananas all day. His speaking is coming on better, and he passed his two year check with flying colours.

Ell has been ticking along as always, enjoying his golf and surprisingly not missing playing football. He’s also been amazing at encouraging me to do things that a year a go I wouldn’t have said yes to for all the tea in China.

I’ve totally stepped out of my comfort zone, attending both an amazing blogging conference in Manchester, an event in London and taking a train for the first time solo. I discovered I really don’t like driving in the dark on my own, I can’t navigate myself for toffee, and how much I love being at home with my babies.

This months photos were taken last minute the other evening. September has been so busy we haven’t taken any family photos and this makes me a little sad. I like to call these “The MANY Faces of Mason Brushneen” as he is hilarious in his posing – whilst the rest of us have the same facial expression in each shot!

Im excited for a more settled month in October, a little break away to Wales, and hopefully fully embracing Autumn with lots of love outside walks and adventures – and having all my babies at home during half term.

You can see who else has linked up with the lovely Lucy at Dear Beautiful this month here

(I can actually say she is lovely now, as I got to have a little chat with her yesterday in person finally.) Don’t forget to check out all the other beautiful families that have linked up for September too!
