The Me & Mine Project – January 2017

The Me & Mine Project – January 2017
I say it every month but how is it the end of January?! I’m excited to capture a year of the Me & Mine Project as I only started in October 2016 – I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings us as a family. I was actually a bit organised this month – we took these photos at the beginning of the month when we went to Weston Super Mare to walk the dog on the beach – trying to get him in the photos too was asking a bit much though. We didn’t have the tripod with us – I do now have a new camera bag that I can attach my tripod to though, so next month we will be sorted – and so these are more like a selfie, but I love them.
It was a really mild day, and we had a lovely time paddling (with wellies on) and had fish and chips for lunch.
It was a really good start to the New Year, but unfortunately, towards the middle of January, I had a bit of a tough time. I always struggle in the weeks coming up to Sophie’s anniversary, and on the 1st Feb, it will mark 5 years since she was born sleeping. Taking these photos of the five of us, makes me feel a bit sad, as it makes me very grateful for my lovely little family, but it does make me wonder what could’ve been. Even saying that makes me feel guilty as if we hadn’t lost Sophie, we wouldn’t have Ollie and I wouldn’t change him for the world.
Mason got poorly again this month, although this time we managed to avoid hospital as I was quick to start giving him his inhaler, and the doctor was amazing and gave us steroids and antibiotics, which helped very quickly.
Ollie has been having a funny off month too – maybe because he is picking up on my mood, but he’s been quite argumentative and refusing to do anything for himself. As my mood has improved, so has his though, and hopefully February will be a better month for both of us.
Izzie , as always is Izzie – she just rolls with it, she’s so easy going. She has been trying really hard with her school work and homework lately, and making me very proud. Her and Ollie are still regularly coming to blows – she seems to know how to push his buttons.
Ell, as always has been amazing – he’s been so good to me whilst I was feeling rubbish – he knows when to give me a kick up the bum, and when I need chocolate and cuddles.
January all in all has been a quiet one – more coughs and colds, playdates, walks, and soft play. I think I’m ready for the grey days to disappear now, as I’m very much looking forward to spring.
I’m now feeling a lot better, and although I know tomorrow will be hard, as it is every year, I will try to smile and be so so grateful for my beautiful family – I hope we are making Sophie proud.

Love the photos on the beach! I'm totally with you in waiting for the grey days to disappear, there seem to be too many of them at the moment. Hopefully February will brighten up for us xx
