The Ordinary Moments #18 Just A Bucket & Spade

The Ordinary Moments #18 Just A Bucket & Spade

All three of my children have loved the beach from an early age. I know some children don’t like the sand, and get quite grumpy but with mine that has never been the case.

Last week we went on our first summer holiday of 2017 to Cornwall – near St Austell. For the majority of the three hour journey, Izzie and Ollie talked about the beach and the sea and they were so excited.

We weren’t able to get into our acclamation until after 4pm, and so after picking some lunch we headed straight to the beach and the kid spent a good few hours paddling, and searching for shells.

This set the theme of our week – very day we made sure to visit the beach – we had some gorgeous sunny days, and some that were quite rainy, but the one consistency was the happiness that was brought by the sand, sea and just a bucket and spade. All three were so happy to just dig, build castles, collect shells and be buried in the sand.

I was particularly surprised by the littlest – he just followed his older siblings, and was more than happy just to play. I took these photos on Par Beach, when he wasn’t looking. It was the easiest holiday we have probably had in our 7 years of being parents as we have usually had another tiny one to feed or run around after. It was so lovely to sit and watch them play – with very little fighting too!

It was a beautiful day, albeit a bit cloudy but we had a short while when the sun came out, and you would honestly think we were on a desert island somewhere with the colour of the sand and sea.

I will be making sure to pack the buckets and spades again fro our next trip in August – this time we will be visiting the west of Cornwall, near Newquay where there are some beautiful sandy beaches. I cannot wait.
