The Siblings Project {February 2018}

The Siblings Project {February 2018}

I always find January through to March drags a little, as it’s so grey outside and everything just seems a little bit dull and grubby. Time has dragged, but on the other hand it has also flown as we are currently smack bang in the middle of half term.

It’s been a pretty uneventful month – I think we are saving up all of our excitement for Disneyland (26 days and counting).

I’ve noticed a real shift in the dynamic of my three in the last month or so. Mason is definitely not a baby anymore and is a proper little person now – so much so that him and Ollie seem to have teamed up – they really are thick as thieves. It seems like they are suddenly so close – Mason follows Ollie around like a puppy, and as a result really misses him when he is at school. They have a mutual love of building things and Ninjago and it’s so lovely to see them so close.

On the other hand I’ve been feeling really sorry for Izzie, because as much as they do all play together, a lot of the time she seems left out of their little ‘boy’ world. My kids are very much gender stereotypes – not through anything we’ve done, but the boys are very much boisterous, and Izzie is very much all about being more delicate and loves anything pink and glittery.

The 1st of February is the anniversary of us losing Sophie and so maybe it has become more prominent to me that Izzie is missing a sister – and this makes me so sad, and I feel so guilty. I’m determined to try and give her more one on one girly time as I don’t want her to feel left out.

In other news, Masons speech is absolutely flying now – something I never would’ve believed a few months ago. Ollie has been coming home with glowing reports from school after a little bit of a bumpy start, and Izzie is loving all her activities such as Brownies and has just signed up for her first Brownie camp in April.

These photos were taken on a weekend walk a couple of weeks ago and I love them so much. They sum up February – grey and muddy, but I love the kids bright jacket and wellies against the dreary background. We also got joined by some swans who seemed to want to photobomb us!

This month Izzie is loving:

*counting down to our Disney Holiday

*weaving – apparently they’ve been learning it at school and it keeps her amused for hours

*The Highway Rat trail at our local arboretum

This month Ollie is loving:

*the Julia Donaldson topic he’s been doing at school

*drawing – and he is getting so good at it

*dressing up – his current favourite is Peter Pan

This month Mason is loving:

*being pulled on his scooter

*eating – his favourite phase is ‘I’m hunnnnngry’ – usually about 10 minutes after breakfast

*his Paw Patroller
