The Siblings Project – February 2017

The Siblings Project – February 2017

Normally I start off by saying that the month has flown by – I feel like January into February has dragged. January is a long month anyway, and after all the bright lights and sparkle of Christmas was put away, we seemed to be left with illness, that has flowed its way into February.

I hadn’t even taken any photos of the three of them together this month. Apart from the odd day, it was mainly spent inside. The thing with having three kids, is they all pick up different germs, from different places, at different times.

This month has mainly consisted of sickness bugs, coughs, colds and temperatures for my three. It seems we’ve been confined to the house for most of the month. Similar to every January and February actually.

The silver lining of this, has been that despite being in each others company a lot more, in a small space, there hasn’t been as much arguing and fighting as I’ve spoken about in previous months.

Actually they have all played lovely together, with very little falling out – obviously they have their moments, but it was lovely to see them merge into their ‘roles’ as siblings this month.

Izzie – ‘The Eldest’ – she is the natural leader, the bossy one, but the one who will care for her brothers, and make sure they are ok – even if they drive her mad.

This month Izzie has been loving:
*Reading – she has all of a sudden become so fluent with her reading and finally seems to be enjoying it
*Hama Beads – I think because its a quiet activity she can do alone and she is really creative with them.
*Dressing Up – She seems to have found the dressing up box again recently – I think when she’s at school it gets forgotten about, but we seem to be regularly seeing Snow White or Princess Tiana wandering around the house.

Ollie – ‘The Middle One’ – he is such a middle child in the best and worst ways – he has to be awkward at any opportunity, but he also has the ability to adapt to playing with Izzie and Mason – he adores Izzie – the other day he got given two chocolates at preschool and saved one for his sister. He also equally adores Mason and is enjoying being the one to teach him things and show him how to play with the toys.

This month Ollie has been loving:
*Colouring – he isn’t a crafty child, but lately his drawing (and writing) has come on leaps and bounds, and he is asking a lot more to get the craft things out.
*Lego – he has graduated from Duplo to Lego in the last few months – he doesn’t like following the instructions and prefers to freestyle it – and he is really creative with it.
*Playdates – Ollie had his first proper playdate (without either of his siblings) this month and had an amazing time. We are looking forward to doing more as he loves being around children of his own age.

Mason – ‘The Baby’ – he really isn’t a baby anymore, although he will always be the baby of our family. He loves being bossed around by the older two -he follows them around like a little sheep, and they have so much patience with him. I love the moments when they think i’m not watching and i catch them having cuddles with him.

This month Mason has been loving:
*Happyland – he has been really getting to playing with the Happyland toys with Ollie – and bringing us different animals and trying to make the noises.
*The Park – when we have got out this month, he has suddenly become really adept at navigating the play equipment – he can now get his legs round on the slide, and go down without getting caught, all by himself.
*His Wellies – he loves taking off and putting on his wellies. It is the cutest thing when he runs and gets the out of the basket and puts them on.

Got to love some outtakes…

It’s always lovely to write my siblings posts each month and link up with The Siblings Project with the lovely Lucy and her gorgeous photos at Dear Beautiful. Check out who else has linked up this month here….
